The White Oak Animal Safe Haven is a NO-KILL animal shelter located in the borough of White Oak across from the White Oak Borough Building. WOASH is governed by a board of directors, which is made up of our Founder, Ina Marton, and other local caring residents and business people.

The White Oak Animal Safe Haven, Inc. has successfully placed over 5,000 animals into caring and loving homes in the few short years the shelter has been open. Many of the animals WOASH cares for are usually unwanted and abandoned strays. With a wonderful and caring staff, the White Oak Animal Safe takes great care of every animal that it takes in and gives them the attention they need until they find a forever home.

Since WOASH is a non-profit and all volunteer ran shelter, they are always looking for donations. Whether it is money, your time, or simply pet food we GREATLY appreciate it. Just a little reminder for our readers, being a TRUE No-Kill animal shelter we do not have an open door policy. We have a closed door policy, which means that once we are at our capacity we CANNOT accept any other animals in until ours in the shelter get adopted.

When you’re looking for a new pet, you should maybe think of adopting an older pet. Although puppies and kittens are REALLY cute, you must remember they are a LOT of time, energy, and effort to get a perfect pet. Keep in mind, when you adopt any animal from a shelter, you are taking this animal home for life and the animal. Older animals need just as much love, time, and kisses that the younger ones need. All our dogs and cats at the shelter will give you a rewarding experience and return your love tenfold.

If you think that you want to adopt from a shelter, please keep in mind that it is going to take time and a lot patience for animals to adjust to their new home. This doesn't happen overnight and could take months for your and your new family member to get used to living in a house rather than on the streets. All adoptions are CASH donation only. Sorry we can not accept personal checks. Adoption fees: Cats $65.00, Kittens $95.00, Purebred $100.00 - this includes the 1st set of shots, spayed/neutered, microchipped, tested for aids/leukemia, worming & flea treatment. Adoption fees: Dogs $100.00, Puppies $120.00, Purebred $125.00 - this includes 1st set of shots, RABIES, microchipped, spayed/neutered, worming & flea treatment.
IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO ABANDON ANY ANIMAL, IF ANYONE ABANDONS AN ANIMAL(S) AT THE SHELTER, WE WILL PROSECUTE.

Our Happenin Hound is Grant!

Hi, my name is Grant. I am a handsome retriever, about 2 and 1/2 years old. I am really lovable and sweet. I love to play and go for long walks. I love people, especially children! I am also good with other dogs. I would be perfect for any household. Come on down and meet me today.

Our Featured Feline is Basco!

Basco is a wonderful and handsome boy. He is a 3 and 1/2 year old White and Grey DSH. He has been here for a few months and he is really looking for a forever home. He gets along with out cats and likes people too. He does have a 'cat' attitude but can be the sweetest thing. Why don't you come on down to the shelter and meet him today!

Wondering how you can help out? Aside from cash donations, we are always looking for certain items to keep our pets happy and healthy. Below is a list of items that we can ALWAYS use. We try to keep our animals on a consistent diet, so it's a BIG help when we get these things: Any brand dog food (puppy & adult)
Canned Dog Food (Alpo sliced, Kibbles N' Bits etc...)
Milk Bones and NEW Dog Toys ONLY
Kitten Chow
Dry Adult Cat Food and Canned Cat Food (9-lives, friskies, fancy feast etc..)
KMR (powdered milk for newborn kittens)
Cat Litter
NEW Cat Toys ONLY
?Advantage? Flea Treatment for Dogs and Cats
?Quat or Microban? Disinfectant for Cleaning Cages
Leashes and Collars (All Sizes Needed)
HP Inkjet Cartridge 92 Black and 93 Color

Trash Bags (kitchen size and heavy duty large size)
Disinfectant Cleaners for general cleaning (pine-sol, lysol etc...)

Note Pads, Writing Paper, Printer Paper, Pens etc... also...
We're always looking for plastic bags:

If anyone would like to donate plastic shopping bags (like Giant Eagle bags) to the shelter would be a BIG help. We have a constant need for them so instead of throwing them away, please feel free to drop them off at the shelter. If we are closed, please leave at the front door. This would be a BIG help when it comes to cleaning up the kennels.

Do you have a few extra hours a week and have nothing to do with them? Well WOASH can help. We're always looking for volunteers to help out with the animals in ANYWAY. This can range from cleaning the cages, helping to feed and care for the animals, doing laundry, to bringing in donations and helping with the fundraising and other committees as well. We are looking for people to come, not only during the mornings/afternoons, but evenings and weekends as well. Any time contributed to the shelter helps benifit the animals and helps us grow in the community. From Route 30: Take Route 48 South to Lincoln Way (Wendy's). Make a left onto Lincoln Way go approximately 1/2 mile. You will see the Borough Building on the right and we are directly across the street on the left.

From Elizabeth: Follow Route 48 North to the intersection with Lincoln Way (White Oak KIA on right). Turn right approximately 1 mile on left.

From downtown White Oak: Follow Lincoln Way West through the intersection (Dairy Queen)approximately 1 mile on Left.

From N. Huntingdon: Take Lincoln Way East past Johnston's Greenhouse. Approximately 1/2 mile past McClintock Road. Go around bend. Shelter will be on the right across from the Borough Building.
